Popsicle Bridge

The highlight of my grade 11 tech design class was the experience of designing a bridge from scratch using a bridge engineering software. After digitally creating out bridge, we were able to use this digital template to create a real life model with Popsicle stick. My favorite part of this project was testing the strength of the bridge with weights from the weight room. In the end my bridge managed to hold 15 pounds before collapsing under the immense pressure.

Photo Essay

This is my photo essay that I created after reading the short story The Necklace by Guy De Maupassant. The story is about being satisfied with what you have, if you desire too much it will leave you in the end with nothing. Creating a photo Essay was much different from writing a traditional essay, a photo essay requires you to visualize the message that is conveyed through the images you have selected. The lesson that I learned from this assignment is that a picture is worth a thousand words.

Lung Cancer Brochure

During my grade ten school year we were learning about the various types of cancers and how they affect different organs in the human body. At the end of the unit we had to select a specific type of cancer and extensively research it, then choose a way to present our findings in an informative way. I chose a brochure because its what most hospitals have in their facilities to inform patients and people in general about certain diseases on how they can be prevented and treated. I was quite shocked about the information I learned on Lung Cancer, and it taught me how to live a healthier life to lower my chances of developing cancer throughout my life time. The brochure informs readers on what lung cancer is, how to prevent it and how it is treated if someone unfortunately develops this fatal condition.

Frog Dissection

One of the highlights of my high school science career was dissecting my first real organism. It was intimidating at first since I was a squeamish person myself but after observing my classmates attempt the dissection it gave me confidence to attempt this endeavor myself. This science experiment was incredibly educational because the anatomy of a frog is almost identical to a humans's. In the post dissection lab report there are real pictures we took during the procedure.
